Hi just watched the all too well short film, and permission to rant on your mailbox, please? Lmao first of all, sadie and dylan's performances are just top notch. The age difference is just spot on. And Taylor said she specifically wanted Sadie and I think it's just a brilliant move. Sadie is in the right age for the part and if Taylor wants to make ppl realize the age difference, she's the perfect choice. Sadie is most well know for playing a teenager in stranger things, a series which represented the group age correctly, not making them act older than they should be. Unlike Taylor, who at that point, wanted to transition from this young, innocent country singer to a pop star, who's often being sexualized. We didn't get the uncomfortable age gap then because of this bias, but we do now. Second thing that really stood out for me is the imbalance relationship dynamic due to their age gap potrayal. The couple's background is just normal ppl, doing normal things. The dinner scene can easily be translated into an entry level staff dating her manager level and trying to fit in this managerial level social gathering. Unless you're an extremely charming, people person, you'd feel awkward, uncomfortable there. Especially if your partner treats you the way dylan did in the movie. Like a trophy for show, not an equal partner.
To wrap things up, i think taylor made brilliant choices here, to drive home the points she wanted to make with the movie.

u always have permission to rant to me <3 i totally agree with everything you said, the casting was brilliant and there are definitely some similarities between sadie and taylor. the dinner scene is :(( i can see it applying to soo many different relationships. the bit where he shakes off her hand was heartbreaking - it’s a small detail but it says so much. and then the way he gaslighted her!!
she really did drive home the point she was trying to make. the short film is honestly amazing; everything from the casting choices to the dialogue, the acting, the storyline, the cinematography, the different chapters.. all of it
i always feel so ashamed when people are like “how do you hit post limit?? i’ve never done that” because i can’t count how many times i’ve hit it. someone tell me to get a life
that part when it’s 13 years later, taylor is a grown up and she lectures about her book “all too wel” to young people who look at her with such admiration and listening to her as hard as they can, how that beautiful part represents taylor telling her story to her fans by singling her songs and specifically by singing all too well to us and telling us and entire story with so much depth and how we’re all listening to everything she has to say and looking up to her with so much love, support and admiration... maybe im crying, taylor swift is a genuine
People are already missing the point of what was so wrong with jake and taylor’s relationship. They’re just saying stuff like “he was bad for her” like no he manipulated a girl who wasn’t even 21 when he was 30
im about to be more obnoxious about a thirteen minute short film than marvel fans were about endgame
